Umbanda
In 2007, artists Dany Barreto and Juan Batalla contacted me to collaborate in their third book from the independently published editorial Arte Brujo.

Having previously released “Salvavidas” (2003), and “San La Muerte, Una Voz Extraña” (2005), this third project called “Dueños de la Encrucijada, Estéticas de Exú y Pombagira en el Río de la Plata,” was an ambitious investigation on the influences of the African-rooted Umbanda religion in Argentina and Uruguay.

I was very lucky to participate in this collaboration between academics, pais and mais de Santo, and contemporary artists. I was in charge of photographing the incredible altars to the figures of Exú and Pombagira, as well as the Kimbanda ceremonies held inside the temples.
