Having previously released “Salvavidas” (2003), and “San La Muerte, Una Voz Extraña” (2005), this third project called “Dueños de la Encrucijada, Estéticas de Exú y Pombagira en el Río de la Plata,” was an ambitious investigation on the influences of the African-rooted Umbanda religion in Argentina and Uruguay.
I was very lucky to participate in this collaboration between academics, pais and mais de Santo, and contemporary artists. I was in charge of photographing the incredible altars to the figures of Exú and Pombagira, as well as the Kimbanda ceremonies held inside the temples.
